Prior to purchasing a pet of this breed, visit a local breed club and ask for references in your area. All reputable kennels are registered by the breed club.

This breed belongs to sporting-gundog group; it is very intelligent and versatile and can be used in hunting, as family pet or show dog, the dogs of this breed are also used as guides for disabled people and can search drugs. The breed was registered in 1925. It is a very active and powerful animal, displaying a kindly expression and possessing an alert, eager and self-confident personality. It has to be kept in perfect working condition, so it cannot be kept in an apartment, but requires a spacious yard and regular vigorous exercises.
